Assoc/Prof Jaeger is a dually qualified Neurosurgeon and a member of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons. Assoc/Prof Jaeger completed neurosurgical training in Germany in 2007, part of which was with Professor Madjid Samii, one of the most prominent and recognised Neurosurgeons worldwide. He then did further advanced training in Sydney, where he worked as a Specialist from 2010 - 2013. He has been practising in the Illawarra since 2013.
Assoc/Prof Matthias Jaeger has a comprehensive neurosurgical practice, covering all aspects of cranial, spinal and peripheral nerve conditions. He aims to provide the highest standard of neurosurgical care in line with the best medical evidence available. He has a specific interest in the management of cervical and lumbar spinal disease. His specific surgical cranial interests are brain tumour operations (including base of skull conditions), as well as the management of cerebrovascular disease and hydrocephalus, where he is providing ‘cutting edge’ diagnostic methods. He treats trigeminal neuralgia with microvascular decompression and percutaneous techniques.
