Dr Bruce Ashford is a General Surgeon whose subspecialty practice is Head & Neck and Endocrine surgery. His main areas of interest are cancer surgery of the head & neck and the management of thyroid, parathyroid and salivary gland abnormalities. He established the microvascular reconstructive service for head and neck cancer in the Illawarra.

Originally a dentist, Dr Ashford completed training in Oral Surgery before attending medical school. After completing his medical training Dr Ashford completed a fellowship in Endocrine and Breast Surgery and then a second Fellowship in Head and Neck Surgery in Canada which focused on microvascular reconstruction following cancer surgery.

In addition to practising in both the public and private systems, he is currently undertaking a PhD in the genetic changes involved in metastatic cutaneous SCC.
