Dr Gideon Sandler graduated from the University of New South Wales in 2002 and completed training in Adult General Surgery in 2013 and Paediatric General Surgery in 2015 through the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons. Further training included Adult Surgical Oncology and Head & Neck Surgery at Westmead Hospital in 2016/17 and Paediatric Surgical Oncology and Head & Neck Surgery at MD Anderson Cancer Centre and Texas Children’s Hospital in Houston, Texas in 2017/18.

He is a member of the Australian and New Zealand Association of Paediatric Surgeons (ANZAPS), International Society of Paediatric Surgical Oncology (IPSO), Société Internationale D’oncologie Pédiatrique (SIOP), Children’s Oncology Group (COG), Australia & New Zealand Sarcoma Association (ANZSA) and the Australian and New Zealand Head and Neck Cancer Society (ANZHNCS).

His research interests include Adult & Paediatric Surgical Oncology, Head & Neck Surgery and Trauma. He has published and presented on these topics both locally and overseas. As a clinical lecturer at the University of Sydney he regularly teaches medical students and junior doctors, taking a special interest in helping surgical trainees to get through their fellowship exams.
