Dr Jerry Day

Dr Day graduated with Honours from the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences in May 1989.

He completed his Neurosurgical training at University of Texas, Southwestern Medical Centre, Parkland and Dallas Children’s Hospitals, Penn State University Hershey Medical Centre in Hershey, Pennsylvania in June 1996. Pursuing further expertise in cerebrovascular surgery led him to Sydney in May of 1993 to undertake a position as a Neurovascular fellow with Professor Michael Morgan at the University of Sydney and Royal North Shore Hospital.

He and his family relocated to Wollongong in 2002 and Illawarra Neurosurgery opened in August of that year. He has held the position of Head of the Department of Neurosurgery at Wollongong Hospital since that time and has worked diligently to develop a comprehensive Neurosurgical Unit there, Figtree Private Hospital and the new Wollongong Private Hospital. Dr Day diagnoses and surgically treats a wide variety of neurosurgical conditions including brain aneurysms and arteriovenous malformations, brain tumours, peripheral nerve tumours/compression, and complex spinal conditions. He has enjoyed documenting patient treatment outcomes and teaching throughout his career. He remains committed to continuing to be an active member of the Illawarra Medical community dedicated to providing excellent neurosurgical outcomes through a collaborative healthcare approach.
